Name:IAVSD 2021 – the 27th IAVSD Symposium on Dynamics of Vehicles on Roads and Tracks
Description:On behalf of the Symposium Organising Committee and the International Association for Vehicle System Dynamics (IAVSD), we invite you to attend the 27th IAVSD Symposium on Dynamics of Vehicles on Roads and Tracks, taking place at the Emperor Alexander I St. Petersburg State Transport University in Saint-Petersburg, Russia, August 16-20, 2021. The IAVSD Symposium on Dynamics of Vehicles on Roads and Tracks is a leading international symposium bringing together researchers, scientists and engineers from academia and industry in the field of ground vehicle dynamics to present and exchange their latest ideas and breakthroughs. The biannual IAVSD Symposia have been held in internationally renowned locations and this 2021 event will be held for the first time in Russia in St. Petersburg, an important economic, cultural and scientific center of Russia. The historical center of the city and its associated complexes of architectural monuments are included in the list of UNESCO world heritage sites. Saint Petersburg is the largest transport hub in the North-West of Russia. There are five active railway stations in the city, two marshalling yards, and two pre-port stations. The city is the home to the administration of the Oktyabrskaya railway, the largest in Russia. Saint Petersburg has a well-developed transport engineering and manufacturing in its surrounding and Leningrad region: the Tikhvin railcar building plant being the largest in Russia and Europe and second largest in the world, as well as Toyota, Scania, Nissan, Hyundai Motor and Man automobile plants. The organizers of this Symposium are the Department of Railway Cars and Railcars maintenance at the Emperor Alexander I St. Petersburg State Transport University, Scientific Center “Vagony”, All-Union Research and Development Center for Transportation Technology (Saint-Petersburg, Russia). St. Petersburg State University of Railways is the first transport higher educational institution in Russia, founded in 1809 by the Manifesto of Emperor Alexander I. Over two centuries, the University graduated more than 100 thousand specialists who have shown themselves in a wide variety of fields: engineering, scientific, socio-political activities, culture and art. The University staff in different periods of time included the world-famous scientists, such as B. Clapeyron, G. Lame, D. I. Mendeleev, S. P. Timoshenko, D. I. Zhuravsky, and many others. Among the graduates of the University are Ministers of Railways, Vice-governors of St. Petersburg, heads of major transport, construction, and industrial enterprises, outstanding scientists, inventors, and designers. Today, St. Petersburg State University of Railways is one of the largest higher polytechnic educational institutions in the transport industry in Russia. The Symposium will also offer an opportunity to participants to visit interesting places and to observe road and rail operations and advanced technologies in the most beautiful city in Russia. We look forward to welcoming your participation in what we believe will be a truly memorable Symposium. The situation with coronavirus in Russia, St. Petersburg and the world is improving and we hope that in 2021 the pandemic will end and will not prevent the Symposium from being held at a traditionally high level with the active participation of representatives of all countries and scientific schools. Rector of Emperor Alexander I St.Petersburg State Transport University Alexander Y. Panychev Chairman of the organizing Committee, Deputy General Director of RPC "United Wagon Company", Professor Orlova A.M.
