Description:	The CIRP International Conference on Life Cycle Engineering continues a long tradition of scientific meetings under the aegis of the International Academy for Production Engineering (CIRP). For many years extensive research in life cycle assessment, product development and sustainable manufacturing has produced a vast pool of knowledge, the application of which is still hampered by reluctant implementation of serious environmental strategies in practice. A recent boost in global environmental awareness now offers a unique opportunity to further the application of existing knowledge and accelerate developments towards more sustainable engineering solutions for future industrial products.
